Inspired by the floating baths of late nineteenth century New York, The Neptune Foundation commissioned the design and construction of a prototype for a new generation of movable waterfront pools for recreationally underserved communities. The result is The Floating Pool Lady—an 82 foot long New York City Parks Department swimming pool. Truax & Company worked with the Neptune Foundation to develop an interactive website that assisted in fundraising collateral, ultimately securing sufficient funds for the conversion of the barge. T&Co also designed the 40-foot murals on the barge, as well as a variety of promotional materials. In its first year, the pool served over 50,000 children, making it one of the most successful and popular new parks of recent years. T&Co assisted with the strategic planning for the project, developed the website, crafted the promotional materials, created 40 foot murals for the barge, edited all copy and produced a commemorative piece upon completion of the pool. |
